ictoria’s Phillip Island turned it on for a week of competition at the 2016 Surf Dive ’N Ski Australian Junior
Surfing Titles with Cape Woolamai playing host to the majority of competition with its great sandbanks lighting
up, rain, hail or shine.
Flynns Reef on the opposite side of the Island provided
pumping 4-6ft surf and blue skies on the final day of
competition for six individual national titles to be won.
Victoria had a campaign to remember with three individual
champions in Xavier Huxtable (Under 16 Boys), Sage
Goldsbury (Under 14 Girls) and India Robinson, who was part
of one of the great junior finals in recent history.
Robinson came from behind in the Under 18 Girls final to
claim victory after posting a perfect 10 on one wave that
can only be described as a masterclass in rail surfing with
two massive hooks highlighting the young Victorian’s grace
and power.
West Australian pair Jack Thomas and Jamaica Selby
claimed outstanding victories in the Under 18 Boys and
Under 16 Girls divisions while young New South Wales surfer
Joel Vaughan claimed his maiden national title with a win in
the Under 14 Boys final.
