PRODUCTS & PROCESSES New business Plastratum brings together leading players in the design and manufacture of process and effluent treatment plant Plastratum Limited, founded in 2018, is a Surface Finishing specialist to the aerospace and engineering industries. It is a new venture from the owners of the UK’s major plastic fabrication business Roperhurst Limited, bringing together leading minds from the UK’s plating, coating and effluent control market, backed up by an in-house design and manufacturing team in its premises on Armoury Road in the heart of Birmingham. Chairing the team is Roperhurst’s Chief Executive Phillipe de Wilde, alongside MD Bob Lane. With more than 40 years’ experience in fabrication and installation of plastic tanks and vessels, pipework, ductwork and scrubbers, both are well placed to ensure that Plastratum’s quality and compliance is second to none and adds to the group’s existing centres of excellence for Polymer engineering. Leading the team in Birmingham is Technical Manager Mike Taylor. Mike has 20 years’ experience in design, specification, sales and chemical commissioning of industrial effluent treatment equipment, and is considered a leader in his field. Bringing nearly half a century of plating experience is Roger Speck. In addition to his vast commercial experience, Roger was also Chairman of the Midlands Branch of the Institute of Metal Finishing for five years and a lecturer at Aston University for the IMF technician’s courses. Glenn Williams, who has been with Roperhurst since 2016, brings close to 50 years of experience in the design and manufacture of fume extraction and scrubbing systems. Glenn is highly respected throughout the industry, starting his education with Plastic Constructions Ltd in October 1969 and went on to become the preferred sub-contractor to Canning Engineering, Electroloid and OMI. Our Birmingham manufacturing team, supplemented by fabrication and site resources in other group companies based in South Wales and Hampshire, means that Plastratum benefits from expansive and integrated production facilities and is excellently placed to deliver high quality fully commissioned plant to sites anywhere in the world. Plastratum is currently working on projects JANUARY 2019 around Electroplating, Metal Finishing and Chemical Cleaning plants and NDT equipment, supported by personnel with over 80 years of experience in their respective fields. Our automatic plants have an integrated software which allows the benefit of dynamic real time product traceability and summation which also enables NADCAP certification and designed for future expansion and in a number of installations substantially increasing present productive outputs which represents a major productivity benefits for our customers. Fully automatic operation of the plating plant is provided by our Total Operations Processing System embracing product traceability, management data output and maintenance scheduling all achievable with diagnostic support and programme changes dynamically from the company’s offices.
