DEPARTURE LOUNGE // AUTUMN 2019
How I
1 | BACKPACK Made by a local company
called Freedom of Movement; they
make all sorts of bespoke goods. This
pack’s been with me for ages – it’s really
cool and comfortable to carry around.

2 | PASSPORTS My mom is Swiss and
my dad is South African, so I’m lucky
enough to travel on a Swiss passport
for a lot of the European and American
legs. I use the Green Mamba for African
countries and, interestingly, for Sri
Lanka – it was easier to travel there on
my South African passport.
His latest international tour has
stops in Germany, Luxembourg, the
Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria,
the United Kingdom and the USA.
With so much travel on the horizon,
modern folk musician and Greenpop
environmental crusader Jeremy
Loops told Sure Travel Journey what
he’d never leave home without.
3 | NECK PILLOW Couldn’t be more im-
portant when you’re travelling as much
as I do. I don’t just use it in airports. I
use it in the tour vans and backstage
before a show if I wanna kip.
4 | HEADPHONES Noise cancelling is a
must to get some quiet while travelling,
and these Bose headphones
probably do that job the best.
5 & 6 | LAPTOP AND CAMERA It’s a bit
of a mission to carry this heavier
15-inch Macbook, but I’m
always editing photos (I love
photography) and I shoot with a Sony
A7 that takes 45 megapixel photos, so I
need some processing power.
7 | SKIPPING ROPE It goes in the side
pouch of my backpack so I can skip
wherever I go. I used to do a lot of
boxing, and it’s the one thing I’ve kept
from my boxing days.
8 | DIARY I do a lot of journalling and
dream journalling, and it’s where I jot
down all my stuff to organise for the day.
9 | HARMONICAS I always have a couple
of these in my backpack.
10 | SINGING BOWL I picked this up in
Sri Lanka. You run the wooden striker
along the edge of the bowl
to create vibrations that
make sound. It’s a nice,
beautiful-sounding thing.
