Expect a smartphone app that ’ ll check you in and act as your room key , high-speed Wi-Fi throughout and intelligent TVs that mirror your Netflix stream . Calling down for room service ? Possible , but passé .
ORIGINS The first Radisson RED opened in Brussels in 2016 , with hotels in Minneapolis ( USA ), Campinas ( Brazil ) and Cape Town following within 18 months . Radisson RED Cape Town opened in September 2017 .
LOCATION , LOCATION , LOCATION Superbly situated in the buzzy new Silo Precinct of Cape Town ’ s V & A Waterfront , the Radisson RED is within walking distance of local museums and visitor attractions , and a short Uber away from the city centre . There are restaurants and shops on its doorstep , with superb city views from guest rooms and the rooftop bar .

Oversized windows let in plenty of old-fashioned daylight , but otherwise the rooms are firmly rooted in the 21st century . Expect art by local creatives on the walls and king-size beds as standard . Baths are thankfully out of mode here , but spacious showers – with water-wise tips – are celebrated . Funky couches and in-room picnic tables – more geared for sharing a sundowner than setting up your laptop – replace the standard in-room workdesk . But if you need to tackle those emails , the tables in the ground-floor restaurant offer integrated power points and plenty of space .
FOOD , GLORIOUS FOOD The OUIBar + KTCHN dishes up no-fuss ( but delicious ) breakfasts and a wide-ranging all-day dining menu inspired by local food trends . Don ’ t miss out on a light bite at the RED Roof , where DJs spin beats while you sip a craft beer and soak up the city views .
