Celebrity goes eco-cruising
Celebrity Cruises is set to build a luxury
100-passenger ship designed specifically
for cruising around the ecologically
sensitive Galapagos Islands.
Called Celebrity Flora, it will be one of
the most energy-efficient ships of its size
and will feature anchorless technology that
protects the sensitive sea floor.
The ship has also been designed to
offer 360-degree views, to maximise the
almost-unspoilt nature of the Galapagos
Islands. Expert-led ecological seminars
will be offered and, for the astrology
aficionados, there’ll b e an open-air
stargazing platform equipped with
telescopes.
Cartoonists take to the seas
The New Yorker is famed for its
single-panel cartoons that provide a
satirical and often scathing take on
politics and society. Cunard Cruises is
renowned for luxury cruises with onboard
activities designed to offer enriching
and educational experiences. The two
together are sure to make for a very
interesting cruise.
That’s what Cunard guests can opt in for
from June to November, when the cruise
line launches “Cartoonists at Sea” in
collaboration with The New Yorker.
Celebrated cartoonists of the acclaimed
magazine – such as Emily Flake, Matt
Differ and David Spires – will host
exclusive drawing sessions, workshops,
hands-on demonstrations and caption
contests for passengers.
The specialist cruises will be available
on select 2018 Transatlantic Crossings on
board the Queen Mary 2.
