just about everything else, from dining to
hospitality – La Petite Ferme is hard to
beat for a cosy getaway.
House suites make for an ideal wedding or
private family reunion destination in the
winelands.
The suites are comfortably furnished in
a relaxed country style. No unnecessary
bling here, but nothing left wanting either.
Bathrooms are spacious and well kitted
out with amenities and piles of fluffy white
towels. Heated towel rails come standard,
of course. Some rooms boast romantic
wood-burning fireplaces and there’s free
Wi-Fi throughout.
All suites have access to (unheated)
private and semi-private plunge pools.
For the summer, of course. The only
downside? There’s no spa on site.
FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD…
There’s less fussy fine dining on offer
these days, but La Petite Ferme retains
its reputation as a culinary destination
in the Winelands. The menu is bistro
inspired, with plenty of French flair from
the kitchen of chef Neethling du Toit.
The menu changes seasonally, with wine
pairings from the estate’s compact range
of wines. Arrive early to enjoy the superb
sunset views.
SPECIAL CHARM/QUIRKS
Pay attention to the details here: the
interiors have been beautifully redone
by Lebanese designer Claudia Chahine,
MAKE #suretravelmemories
while local ceramicist Mervyn Gers
crafted bespoke crockery pieces for the
restaurant.
THE WOW FACTOR
Ironically, it’s the lack of wow factor that’s
the wow factor. Views aside, there’s no
obvious bling, bells or whistles here: just
great food, luxury accommodation and
warm country hospitality. What more
could you want in a Winelands escape?
