“ I won the skiing competition in our group on the last day . The truth is that I really needed to wee , so I skied as fast as I could to get to the toilet at the bottom !” – Amy du Plessis ( 7 )
“ We had a competition in our family to see who could lie down on the snow outside our apartment in their underwear . That was fun !” – Tom du Plessis ( 5 )
loved racing down the slopes , snowball fights with my friends and the food at the resort .” – Matthew Smith ( 11 )
“ Snow skiing was awesome . Best holiday that I have ever been on ! It was such fun to have friends with us .” – Ryan Smith ( 9 )
The Du Plessis kids , ruling the snow .
for ages . That alone was worth the money and effort ! I think they spent nearly as much time playing in the snow outside our apartment as they did skiing down the slopes . As it was our first time with the kids , they were booked into ski school for the week . I was concerned we would hardly see them during the day , but St Johann doesn ’ t have a huge number of slopes . I loved the fact that we could watch the kids at the ski school , which was close by , and we often crossed paths with them on the slopes in their groups , following each other like little ducks , zigzagging downwards .” – Jo du Plessis
“ I loved the chance to ski with the kids and to watch them amaze me with how easy they made it seem , how quickly they learned and how fearless they were on the slopes . I loved the après-ski with the kids , going into town to find hot chocolate and Wiener schnitzel , and falling asleep in our cosy apartment after an active day on the slopes .” – Max du Plessis
“ The view from the top of the mountain was breathtaking . Learning to ski was easy ; we had five days of lessons and went onto the main slopes after only one day on the baby training slope .” – Isabella du Plessis ( 10 )
MEET THE SMITHS Because there are often many decisions that need to be made around a ski holiday , the Smiths decided to book an all-inclusive package . They chose Club Med Cervinia in Italy because of its reputation as a family-friendly destination and travelled with another family of four . Their package included accommodation , all meals and drinks , entertainment , ski lessons , ski equipment and ski passes . Booking a two-week holiday meant that they were able to enjoy a few rest days between the ski days . “ The Cervinia ski slopes are stunning ; an incredible selection of slopes for experienced skiers . Having the Matterhorn watching over us every day was an incredible feeling , and access to ski runs in Switzerland is very simple . Our children had never skied before , but ended the holiday as ‘ experienced ’ skiers who were quite fearless on the slopes , attempting to ramp over any little mound they came across ! It was a wonderful family holiday that we got to share with very special friends . As busy and active as we were on this holiday , we came home feeling rested .” – Natalie Smith
“ The holiday was incredible . I didn ’ t have to worry about anything ; it was so well organised ! I loved skiing while it was snowing .” – Chris Smith
“ Snow skiing was amazing – way better than anything I could have imagined . I
