Supermodels SA Supermodels SA - Issue 33 | Page 72
Everyone wants to be a model. At Supermodels SA we get many aspiring
models, both female models, and male models. But most of them don’t know
exactly what type of model they want to be.
You can’t be good in all the model types, and first and foremost you need to
realise the following three key points:
Your Genetic Makeup (no this is not the makeup you put on in the mornings
;) google it )
• You need determination and HARD work!
• And last but not least, you need to focus on the type of model you want to
be with regards to the answers of the above points.
Runway Models
Basic requirements for Runway modeling:
Females
Height: 5’9”– 6’0” (sometimes 5’10” and
sometimes up to 6’2”)
Bust: 32”– 34”
Waist: 23”– 25”
Hips: 33”– 35”
Males
Height: Generally 6’0” minimum
Waist: 31”– 33”
If runway is your goal, you will need to list
your measurements accurately. Then you will need
a professional portfolio which you can do at Supermodels SA,
showing your body structure and ability to move gracefully. need to focus
on getting trained to walk the runway, and be prepared to go to many castings
and long days without work. Runway modeling is one of the most prestigious
types of modeling, but contrary to popular belief, it rarely pays well. For a
non-celebrity model, it’s normal to be paid in nothing but clothes or, at best, a
few hundred rands.
