Many consumers with colour correction issues don’t realize
that hair colour cannot often be instantly reversed. It can take
several visits for some serious colour problems to be reversed.
Hair color is not like paint on furniture which can easily be removed
with paint remover. Hair colour is a lot more like painting a white wall. Sometimes you can’t just paint over the colour with corrective white paint. Many times you
have to remove the botched colour in several steps. The same is true with hair colour
gone wrong.
Although you may feel that you yourself can do a miracle fix with the colour at home, historical evidence is not in your favour unless you utilized a vegetable, semi or demi-permanent colour. If you used a permanent colour or a bleach product, it is best to try and get
professional help from the manufacturer or an outside colour expert.
While you may be able to get your hands on the colour removing products available to
professional stylist and colour experts, unless you have a complete knowledge of how to
use the formulas, avoid them like the plague. The colour removal products often contain
strong chemicals or bleach and in the wrong hands they can cause severe hair breakage.
Colour removal products should never be used on relaxed or permed hair without the
advice of a hair expert.
You can avoid a colour correction issue by working with a professional stylist. According
to stylist Maggie, “It always helps to bring a picture for reference, with multiple views of
the colour if possible.”
