Introducing André van der Westhuizen André van der Westhuizen is a Psychological Counselor from Pretoria. André completed a Bachelor of Education majoring in Afrikaans and Psychology at the University of Pretoria in 2010. He then furthered his studies and completed his Honours Bachelor of Education degree with specialization in Inclusive Education at the University of South Africa in 2011, which enables him to practice as a Remedial Therapist too. He went on to complete his Honours Bachelor of Arts degree with specialization in Psychology at the University of South Africa in 2014. André is currently enrolled for an Honours Bachelor of Education with specialization in Guidance and Counseling at the University of South Africa as well as a Master of Philosophy with specialization in Philosophy and Ethics of Mental Health at the University of Pretoria. André attend classes for the MPhil-degree at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital. André has been published in Vuvuzela Afrikaans, an Afrikaans Methodology textbook which is prescribed for students at various universities all over South Africa. André is an active freelance writer for the EduNews Magazine [www.edunews.com.na] with over 11 publications up to date as well as for the Today’s Child Magazine (Pretoria & Johannesburg Edition). André also contributes as an expert in the field of psychology and mental health to Die Sarie Tydskrif since January 2015. André has been playing piano since the age of 8 and organ since the age of 19. He also enjoys cooking and baking and hosting dinner parties for family and friends.
