He is a full-time model, Fashion Council Member,
Reality TV Star and most recently featured in the
Big Brother ‘Hot Shot’ house. With so much hay
on his fork it’s a wonder that Luis Munana’s not
dropped the ball but this young man is going
from strength to strength and now he’s heading
for the international catwalk.
Success seems to come naturally to the 23-year
old model and Voigush Entertainment co-founder and host. Luis refers jokingly to himself as a
‘Model with a Qualification’ having studied finance at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
‘Namibian fashion has surely
grown and being a member
of the Fashion Council I
would love to see our very
own Fashion Week develop
into an internationally recognized event. But 2015 surely
slee
has a lot up its sleeve.’
‘I knew it was important to get my education
but being a fashion pioneer is where my passion
lies,’ he says.
t
Munana has taken his television show, Voigush,
to several red carpet events such as the esteemed
annual Namibian Music Awards. As a model he’s
had the privilege to take to the runway for some
of the best designers during Fashion Weeks in
Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. These
include Andre Martin, HSL Durban Fashion and
CSqaud to mention a few.
In 2013 took part in South African designer,
David Tlale’s show during Cape Town Fashion
Week. Luis remembers walking the runway that
was designed over a broken bridge in the Green
Point Stadium.
‘We had to walk on white flower that was
strewn all over the runway and this truly showcased his unique creativity. To showcase David
Tlale’s menswear collection is a milestone in itself as he’s one of the top designers in this category.’
Luis is also setting his sights on the international runway and he’d love to become a globe trotter.
‘The big brother experience has taught
me a lot about myself. I don’t want to be
just a runway model in Namibia. I want to
spread my wings and conquer the world.’
Luis is very optimistic about the development of the Namibian Fashion Industry.’
‘Namibian fashion has surely grown and
being a member of the Fashion Council I
would love to see our very own Fashion
Week develop into an internationally recognized event. But 2015 surely has a lot
up its sleeve.’
Luis’ advice to young people aspiring to enter
the modeling and fashion industry is to stay
grounded.
‘Don’t let money change who you are, be yourself all the time.’
