Safety Tips While Investigating and Evaluating Mold and Moisture Problems • • • • • • Do not touch mold or moldy items with bare hands. Do not get mold or mold spores in your eyes. Do not breathe in mold or mold spores. Discard material used to clean up mold properly. Use moisture meters to test moisture levels in walls. Wear gloves and used EPA approved respirator masks when cleaning mold. Don’t be fooled Mold can hide. Just because you do not see it, does not mean mold is not present. Mold can hide behind wallpaper or behind drywall. When water leaks or moisture issues are present behind or inside walls, mold can grow from the inside of the wall out. Normally these contaminations are very difficult to detect, unless you are a trained professional in the detection of mold.
