Now I would like to tell you about one of
the most interesting days of my student life.
No doubt, every nation living on the Earth has
its own history, traditions and features of
national cuisine. Once a year our faculty hosts
a fair of national cuisine of China, France,
Germany and Britain and every student can
sample lots of really fantastic and delicious
dishes. This event was held on November 19,
2018. By the way it has become a good
tradition. I think it is a great opportunity to be
closer to our favourite countries. This fair gives
all the students a chance to immerse in
culture of different parts of our world. Usually
the students of each group cook really tasty
dishes typical of the country the language of
which they study and then bring them to the
university. Then all the dishes are put on the
large tables and everyone can come and take
something he or she likes the most absolutely
free of charge. There is always a rich choice
and as for me I always want to try everything I
see. This is one of my most favourite days at
the university because I often remember this
amazing smell the loud laughter of the
students, the tables with a plenty of delicious
dishes and of course emotions when you try
something new for the first time, it is really
fantastic! I took part in this fair too. My
groupmate and I cooked julienne bans, it
refers to French cuisine.
some dishes of Britain cuisine deserve special
mention. For example, the famous Shepherd's
Pie- a potato casserole with minced beef or
Cornish Pasty- a layered pie with meat, onion,
potatoes and carrots. Also it`s worth paying
special attention to "5 o'clock tea", famous
British tradition. In fact, everyone can see tea-
drinking in British films and literature which is
difficult to imagine without a beautiful
tablecloth, a porcelain teapot, tea with milk,
sandwiches, cookies, cakes and of course
leisurely talk with some friends and relatives. It
is interesting to stress, tea- lovers have been
arguing for a long time about what to pour in a
cup first: tea or milk. Generally speaking, this
question is still relevant. At this time people
leave their work in order to plunge into the
fragrant world of tea. It seems during this
period all problems go into the background.
Also this English tradition inspired an
outstanding French perfumer Serge Luthen to
create an aroma, which was called “Five
O'Clock Au Gingembre”.
In conclusion I would like to note I am very
pleased to have an opportunity to study at
the Faculty of Foreign Languages and learn
lots of amazing and very interesting things
about different countries.
Nevertheless I would like to focus on
British cuisine. There is an opinion that it is
usually plain and conservative. Indeed, classic
British dishes are not too dainty but they are
nourishing, natural and tasty. Meals during a
day in Britain traditionally include breakfast,
lunch, dinner and supper. Usually a classic
British breakfast is rather substantial and it
includes porridge, omelets and scrambled
eggs. Sandwiches with different fillings are a
traditional British snack. For dinner the British
often have soup and the main course such as
meat, poultry or fish. Supper in Britain consists
of something light, for example, a cup of tea
and bread and butter. It must be admitted
