ART
Creativity for the Soul
What inspires you?
That is a difficult question ... a bit of
everything I guess. I really want to create an
icon. The canvas is there standing in its place,
a start has been made, but I haven't finished it
yet so far. I am religious and I go to church all
the time. Several times a week. I go to
different temples around the region. My first-
time going to church was at the age of 19 when
I was christened. As a rule, people come to
church due to the family traditions, or when
something bad happens. The second one was
true to me. I got sick. I did not go to the temple
then for a long time, but I've been constantly
going there for the last 5 years. I go there not
only if something bad is happening, but
because my soul asks for it.
My family is also religious. I can't say
that we abide by all the canons, but we are
always being in a dialogue with God. I`d
dreamt of going to the candlelight vigil at
Easter for a long time, and I finally did it a
couple of years ago. The feelings of light and
celebration in my soul were incredible! The
church bells, the flickering flame of candles in
my hands and a loud echo of "Christ is Risen!"
...
I understand you. I always go to church
before the new year, for my birthday, in some
bright moments. When I'm faced with a choice.
I trust in God, and the answers come to me
naturally. Not all the things work out in a way I
want them to be, but, I know, that that is a
correct way.
The answers come in prayer. Many
people ask: how to distinguish your inner
voice from the voice of God? When the
thoughts are of your own, you always feel
anxious in your heart, but if this is a voice
upon high, then you always feel calm.
These are the correct and mature
words.
Alexandra, what do you like to read?
I love historical literature. For example,
the books that are dedicated to the Great
Patriotic War. I wasn't fond of reading at
school, but now things have changed
completely. When I worked in a bank, I had a lot
of free time and there was a bookstore
nearby. I remember, I went there once and
bought “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas”.
That's how it started. I subsequently started
to be selective and had been reading serious
literature. I am fond of psychology now. I like
the works of Mikhail Labkovskii. The pieces of
advice he offers are good, in spite of being too
straightforward. I often listen to some
interesting person in the morning when making
breakfast, and analyze his thoughts. Before
going to bed I read the Gospel.
My introduction to it began in
childhood, when my grandmother read me the
Children's Bible. Those were the holy
moments before the bedtime. I really liked it.
This book is eternal and it has a lot of
wisdom. It teaches a lot. I am an
impressionable person by nature and worry
about everything, but I've learned to take
things easier. I am not trying to maximize the
number of anything. For example, I know a lot
of people, but have got only one close friend.
There were people in my life with whom we
stopped being friends due to some
circumstances, but after some time I initiated
to get along and put up with them. I think one
should have the ability to forgive and to take
the first step to put things up. That's what the
human strength and wisdom are all about.
