The Season of Lent
Wayzata Community Church
Ash Wednesday Worship
March 6, 6:30 p.m., Sanctuary
The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, ushering us into
40 days of reflection, repentance, and renewal. As worshipers arrive
they will enter a bright worship space and receive the gift of Holy
Communion. As the service unfolds, we will move farther and
farther into the Dark—where we will collectively spend the season
of Lent. Concluding with the imposition of ashes for all who wish.
Join us as we begin our Lenten journey together. Childcare available
for ages Birth-PreK.
Lenten Sermon Series
Cross Words
The Seven Last Words of Jesus
March 10 – April 14
One at a time, through the season
of Lent, we will ponder the meaning
and importance of Jesus’ final words.
We might consider these the dying
words of Jesus giving us a glimpse
into what may have mattered most
to Him. Forgive… You will be with
me… Behold… Forsaken… Thirst…
Finished… I commit my spirit…
Adult Faith Lent Study
Wednesdays, March 13 – April 10
Taught by Rev. Rustin Comer and Dr. Ronald Troxel
10:00 a.m., 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
During Lent this year we will focus on the doctrine of
ATONEMENT. The issue of atonement is both central to the gospel
and has amazingly drawn a lot of controversy of late. Every presen-
tation of the gospel, every catechism and nearly every sermon has
a theory of atonement at work. Ever notice this? This year, you can
choose from one of two texts. Tony Jones’ Did God Kill Jesus, and
Scot McKnight’s A Community Called Atonement. Visit our website
to read more about these classes.
Seven Last Words of Christ

Long Hall, outside the Chapel
Through a generous loan from
Westminster Presbyterian Church,
the Wayzata Community Church
Art & Design Committee has
curated an exhibit of spiritual
artworks to parallel our Lenten
Sermon Series journey through the
Seven Last Words of Christ.
