Charming lakeside cities offer more

Deephaven Deephaven is a haven for an estimated 3,677 residents with an appreciation for easy access to Lake Minnetonka . Established as a city in 1900 , Deephaven can boast a rich history offering a serene space for Minnesotans to settle . Minnetonka Boulevard is a driver of the city ’ s activity , connecting it to the nearby larger cities of Excelsior and Minnetonka . The city is home to 89 acres of parkland with seven parks and access to trails like the Southwest LRT Regional Trail . One important activity for residents is access to six public beaches , three of which are patrolled by lifeguards , and two marinas .
In 2021 , the city ’ s 100-year-old Northome Bridge became a landmark for the city in a different way . Following the passing of the city ’ s mayor Paul Skrede , community members and city officials put together a plan to dedicate the refurbished bridge to him in honor of his work to replace it .
Cottagewood General Store serves as the heart of the city , virtually unchanged since its start in 1895 on Cottagewood Avenue . While the store is only open May-October , it does host community events and festivities year-round and functions as a spot for food , ice cream , coffee , gifts and more . Founded in 1882 , the Minnetonka Yacht Club sits alongside Carson Bay ’ s Lighthouse Island and is one of the oldest in the country . The yacht club is a central hub for many lakeside events , including pontoon access , racing and sail boating which generally runs from mid-May through mid-September .

Greenwood Greenwood houses around 700 residents , with half of the properties located on Lake Minnetonka in areas such as St . Alban ’ s Bay and Excelsior Bay . The community is not far away from downtown Excelsior , the city ’ s unofficial main hub of activity . Greenwood residents are fortunate to take in the scenic views alongside the Southwest LRT Regional Trail that runs along the west side of the city .
The city ’ s main attraction is the Old Log Theatre , a coveted community theater tucked in a Greenwood neighborhood . The Old Log totes a history of being the longest-running theater in Minnesota and acts as a destination for local shows year-round and well-produced musical theater . Cast & Cru acts as a compliment to the theater as the on-site restaurant . New this year is the theater ’ s one-stop-shop for the Excelsior Bay Concert series . Woodland
Woodland is a small , single-family residential city with less than 500 residents across its modest 0.8 square miles . While quiet and known for being one of the smallest suburbs in Hennepin County , the community is nestled within a beautiful natural expanse of woods alongside the charming shores of Lake Minnetonka .
Half of its homeowners have close access to Lake Minnetonka , with many on large lots of two acres or more . Wayzata Bay is home to many of the city ’ s neighborhoods , with access to Robinson ’ s Bay and a small inlet called Woolsey Pond .
