Spring Is ….
A time to find out WHERE you are,
WHO you are,
And move toward where
YOU ARE GOING!

The above quote by Penelope Trunk points out, very poignantly, that Spring may be a time of reflection but most often is a time of action! Over the late Fall and Winter, we cozy into our lives, settling for the quieter time brought on by the shorter days and longer nights. But Spring changes everything! We begin to look toward more DOING and what we can accomplish … i.e. where we are going.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I always have high hopes for my strawberry patch in the Spring. I uncover it; I fertilize it; I dig out the old, dead plants and weeds; and I just know I am going to get the best batch of berries. And, unless we get a really late frost, I do get the best strawberries! Maybe for you, it’s your garden, or your flowers. My point is, we all start out with a lot of energy and dive into our projects with the renewed energy of Springtime and by the time we are “done”, we have really accomplished something of which to be proud!
NALA offers us the opportunity to dive into something new and fresh through the on-demand webinars, self-study courses, live courses, certification, advance certification, and – of course – the annual conference. We are given the chance to step outside our “box” and try something new! Think about tackling one of these and stepping outside of your box!
Speaking of stepping outside of your box and taking on something new, we have two members who will be taking the certified paralegal exam very soon. I want to wish the best of luck to Lindy Gandy and Bonnie Banks!! I know both of you have studied hard and will do well on the exam.
Lindy and Bonnie will be among the last group of people taking the exam under the “old” specifications. NALA has announced that the certified paralegal exam will be changing beginning in 2018. There will be new structure and content, exam results will be received faster, and there will be more testing windows available to take the exam. So, as the days grow longer and the air grows warmer, think about WHERE you are, WHO you are, and where YOU are going …. Then step outside your box and go!
