Spend your summer with Lake Forest Library ! Saturday , June 3 , 10 a . m . -2 p . m .: The Library will be hosting over 80 events to enjoy this summer . Register for the summer reading program while enjoying Taiko drumming and dance , Origami , Zen garden design and more . Visit lakeforestlibrary . org for a full schedule of activities including book discussions , programs on architecture , adult painting , photography and technology classes and Cook Book Book Club .
“ Reading by Design ” Children , teens and adults may register for the summer reading program , provided with support from the Friends of Lake Forest Library .
Exam Escape for local high school students Tuesday , May 30 , 3-9 p . m . Wednesday , May 31 , 3-9 p . m . The Library will offer free food and drinks , study supplies and expanded seating to help students comfortably prepare for final exams .

Stop in for a tour of beautiful Dickinson Hall , pick up a membership application and meet our welcoming staff and friendly members ! Explore insightful lectures , educational opportunities , creative outlets , fitness classes and fantastic excursions on our own bus to Chicago , Milwaukee and beyond for theatre , sporting and cultural events to suit every taste and schedule . We are all looking forward to a great summer at Dickinson Hall .
We have Great Parties ! In June , we welcome the Lake Forest Police Department as they host their 41st annual picnic at Dickinson Hall . Following lunch , Police Chief Walldorf will call a fast-paced game of Bingo . Registrations must be made in advance and all aged 50 + are welcome .
Also in June , we will celebrate the long , lazy days of summer with a Summer Solstice Friday night supper club . Entertainment will be provided by a local jazz band , The Carl Noble Trio , featuring Missy on vocals , Dan on double bass and Carl on piano .
July wouldn ’ t be complete without an All-American Cookout in honor of our country ’ s birthday . Enjoy an authentic BBQ and an afternoon of patriotic music with a blues spin . Also in July , we ’ ll enjoy Breakfast at the Beach with the upbeat music of The Dancing Bohemian Ukulele Team . In August , we ’ ll cool down with a delicious old-fashioned Ice Cream Social mixer .
Exciting Women ’ s and Men ’ s Group Programs ! Our May Women ’ s Luncheon features Chicago-area historian and actor Annette Baldwin who will portray the story of “ La Grande Mademoiselle : Coco Chanel ”. In June , we are thrilled to host an elegant tea party with “ Hamilton ’ s Women ” portrayed by actress and scholar Leslie Goddard , PhD . You don ’ t have to have seen the hit musical to enjoy this high-spirited and enjoyable event ! July brings seasoned presenter Susan Benjamin with her program about “ The Life of Debbie Reynolds ”. In August , we get a little risqué with Ellie Carlson and her witty program , “ Speaking of Unmentionables : The Rise and Fall of Ladies ’ Underwear ”. Our Men ’ s Group hosts a sports roundtable in August featuring Don Pierson , Chicago Tribune Sports Columnist .
Lots of Lectures and Learning ! We continue throughout the summer with our hit monthly “ Age Spectacularly ” health series . This free program is devoted to healthy aging . Our topic in June is “ Music and the Brain – Using Music to Enhance One ’ s Mind , Body and Spirit ”. In July , we focus on “ Mindfulness ” with Carrol Stovold .
