George Sifakis:

Welcome to the IdeaGen Global Podcast. Today we have with us Camila Borda Kaul from Google and Proud2BeGood. Camila, welcome.

Camila Borda Kaul:

Hi George, how are you? Thank you for having me.

George:

Wonderful, great to be here today with you on our show and it's very exciting to hear about all of the innovative impact you're having across the planet, not only in your work with Google, but with your work with Proud2BeGood. We also have with us today Katie Hailemichael from IdeaGen.

Katie:

Hello.

George:

Welcome. So Camila, let's go right into the interview. As the leader of Google ERG group in Colombia and Central America and chapter lead of the company's Women@ group in the region, I had the opportunity to hear from you on all these incredible opportunities you have worked on to take advantage of technology and advise thousands of girls about STEM and how to code, etc. You've worked on projects relating to Ghana and Ghana scaling off education projects for girls across the country. Then, after your inspiration, I guess out of an IdeaGen summit, which is an awesome story, and you knew I was gonna say it, you created Proud2BeGood. So, what has inspired you to focus on innovation, not only in Google but with Proud2BeGood?

Camila:

Well George, thank you so much for the kind introduction. The reality is that I do believe that innovation is turning an idea into a solution. It's not about getting to a perfect state, it's about the progress. So if we can make the world a bit better than yesterday, then we're moving in the right direction. So, that's pretty much what it has driven me throughout the years is looking for the opportunity to make a change- a small change- it doesn't have to be a huge change, it's all about doing the right thing one day at a time and finding people that will believe in your vision and that will want to carry it with you. So in that sense, innovation for me is about how do we turn an idea that is the engine of all of it and just find a way to make it a viable solution. Google and technology has given me one way to do this and then Proud2BeGood is now a movement that has also used technology to scale it to the world.

George:

Simply amazing. Kate?

Katie:

Hello Camila. Again I would like to say thank you for making time with us today. Your work with Google and Proud2BeGood is truly inspiring. My question for you is how does your role as Industry Manager at Google, founder of Women@ in Colombia, and Proud2BeGood inspire you as your work to engage the incredible range of individuals and organizations in the industry?

Creating a Global Movement #Proud2BeGood

An interview with Camila Borda Kaul of Google
