Professional Learning Guidelines
New Employees – Required Professional Learning
All Levels
1. T-TESS – Unless have certificate from previous District
2. CPI – All Administrators, Special Education staff, Police Officers
3. CPR – Coaches, nurses, band directors, cheerleader sponsors, one Administrator per campus
4. GT Hours – See criteria below
5. TBSI – Unless have certification from previous District
6. Technology Requirements – Grade book, Attendance, Promethean, Web page
7. Trauma Response Training – Counselors only
Elementary Levels (Pre-K—5)
1. ESL Supplemental Certification* – Pre-K-5
2. DRA Training – K-2
3. STAR Literacy – K-2
4. Aledo Writing – K-5
Secondary Levels (6-12)
1. ESL Supplemental Certification* – 6-8 core
2. SIOP Training* – 7-12 core
3. Pre-AP /AP – Must attend AP Institute Training once every 3 years
4. Aledo Writing – 6-12 (ELA/SS)
Flex Days
1. 12 hours Professional Learning required for November 20-21, 2017, Flex Days
2. Must follow Flex Days Guidelines, available on the Aledo ISD Professional Learning web page
GT Guidelines
Beginning August 2012 all NEW employees (K-12) will need to acquire their 30 hours of GT training. This
training needs to be done in the summer. District does not pay for initial 30 hours, nor 6 hour update.
Principals/Assistant Principals/Counselors - Complete 30 hours plus 6 hour yearly update.
If there is a late hire an individual training plan will be developed by the Campus Principal and approved
by the Executive Director of Professional Development.
Functional Teacher GT requirements may be individualized by the Executive Director of Professional
Development and the Director of Special Programs.
