Marcil has been recognized as a “Best Lawyers in America” since 1987. He has also been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” and has been selected to the top five list in the Great Plains Super Lawyers. Additionally, Chambers has recognized him as a leading litigator in North Dakota. Over the last fifteen years, Marcil has shifted the focus of his practice from litigation to mediation. He has mediated more than 2,000 cases and has been recognized by the American College of Civil Trial Mediators and is a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, both invitation only organizations. Marcil was also presented with the SBAND Distinguished Service Award in 2007. Galloway Celebrates 50 Years in Law Gerald “Jerry” Galloway, senior vice president of administration for American Bancor, Ltd. (American), is celebrating 50 years in law. Jerry is a 1962 graduate of the University of North Dakota and a 1966 graduate of the North Dakota School of Law. He was admitted to the bar and practice of law in North Dakota courts in 1966. He began his practice in Center. In 1972, he moved to Dickinson and continued his public practice until 1999, at which time he joined American. His practice has been concentrated on business, municipal, estate, and real estate law. During these periods, Galloway was a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard (NDNG) and retired with the rank of Colonel in the Judge Advocate Corp of the NDNG. At American, he has been focusing on holding company administrative matters and the management of American Trust Center. He has served on many professional boards, including the SBAND Board of Governors, State Bar Board, State Disciplinary Board, North Dakota Bar Foundation, and the North Dakota Appraisal and Qualifications Board. He also served as an Ombudsman for the Department of Defense National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a board member on the North Dakota National Guard Retiree Advisory Board, a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge 1137, a past member of Lions Clubs in Center and Dickinson, and a past Chairman of the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce. For many years he has also served as the attorney for the Dickinson Catholic Schools Foundation Board. Goosman Law Firm Expands to Fargo and Welcomes New Attorney Jeana Goosmann, CEO and managing partner of the Goosmann Law Firm, has announced the firm’s recent expansion to Fargo. The firm’s Fargo location opened in June and is now its fourth location following the opening of the Spencer, Iowa, office in May 2015 and the Sioux Falls, S.D., office in 2013.
