communications skills in law school in the North Dakota Law Review. At UND, Professor Mavrova Heinrich will teach in the first-year Lawyering Skills program. She also will teach a course she designed for UND law students, Professional Writing & Communication. And, as a former UND Trial Team member and Moot Court champion, she will teach Advanced Trial Advocacy and coach our Trial Team. At the same time we are welcoming Kit and Denitsa with open arms, we’re also saying goodbye to our retiring faculty colleague Paul A. LeBel. Paul joined the School of Law as our 15th dean in May 2004. In 2009, at the request of University President Robert O. Kelley, Paul undertook the duties of UND’s Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost. He retired as Vice President and Provost in 2013 and returned to the law school as Professor of Law. Paul’s legacies at the School of Law include laying the initial groundwork (figuratively speaking!) for our transformative building project and modernizing our admissions process. In recognition of his role in advancing the Retiring faculty Paul A. LeBel displays a gift from his students. School of Law, the University has bestowed the honorary titles of Dean Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of Law. Paul’s contributions to the law school as dean will have a lasting impact, but his heart has always been in the classroom. This spring, his Torts students put together a fantastic collection of “LeBelisms” from his lectures, including a “Big Bag of Liability,” a lovely gesture reflecting his teaching excellence and his strong connection to students. We wish Paul and Lucinda all happiness as they focus on being grandparents! When a lawyer needs a lawyer.
