From the Streets to the Rap Game
This rapper has experienced many hardships throughout his life. Especially being the business for 16 years, but through these obstacles never lost sight of his dreams. His story begins in Philadelphia. He was the son of a gangsta and a mother was hooked on drugs. So from the age of 9-18 he was in the foster care systems. Once he was of age he returned to Philadelphia and stopped selling drugs after seeing his mother. He was about to do a battle but was about to do a rap battle but was arrested instead and that is where he became more fearful of God. After he beat his case he lost everything, but he kept his faith and continue to work on his music. DJ Big Philly helped mentor him and got him into rap battles. After that he started battling big names like Young guns, Dr. Screams just to name a few and he even
started meeting celebrities.
I asked Derrick what were his goals
he answered "own my own business and move my family out of the hood. I want to create all kinds of music. I just hope my story will inspire someone to do better and remember family is the one who will really have your back.
When asked who is his favorite artist and why he stated this, "Myself! I love watching my progression. I am my biggest fan. It surprises me how far I have came. I was able to change my life around. I remember when no one believed in me, but I was able to beat the better man. Now they all look at me like I cam out of nowhere."
