Susan Curry: Where are you from and how long have you been designing women's clothing?
Ava Jones: I was born in Jamaica, but grew up in Canada. Unofficially I've been designing since I was 14, but launched Pheline in 2009.
S: Inspiration and Love for designing: What do you love most about designing and where is your inspiration derived from?
A: I mostly love the look of excitement when I first fit a woman in one of my couture pieces and she is astounded by her own beauty; that look of satisfaction is everything. Oddly, inspiration comes from the fabrics and accents I choose and my love of the femininity of the 50's fashions and style of dress; I truly believe that is the era when woman knew how to "dress" and took pride in their "look" whether they were going to the supermarket or on a night out.
