Angel Wilson is a young and talented fashion designer, who started at a very young age. Her elegant fashion creations are tailored to young women. I had a chance to ask Angel about her love for fashion, her inspirations and goals, and her outlook on the fashion industry.
Q. Where does your artistic influence come from and when did you start making clothing?
A. Well I guess I would say that it came from watching my mom making clothes. I would always take the pieces of cut fabric that fell to the floor and began trying to create things. I also love Valentino. I first started designing clothes when I was 17.
Q. What was the most memorable challenge?
A. My most memorable challenge was creating pieces for DFW Teen Fashion week in Dallas Texas. It was my first real challenge and the memories are awesome even though it was challenging to design the right pieces and finding the right fabric.
Q. How do you describe your fashions and style?
A. My fashions are trendy, sophisticated, innovative and timeless.

Q. How did you develop your interest in fashion design?
A. As a young child my interest in fashion design came from watching my mother in her sewing room.
Q. What is it like working for you now and who is your dream client?
A. I absolutely love working for myself as a young black woman growing up in America. It gives me a sense of stability and drive. Hmmm, I would say my dream client would be any woman that wants to feel beautiful!
Q. What advice do you have other aspiring fashion designers?
A. Follow your dreams and always believe in yourself and do not let anyone tell you that you cannot do it!
Q. What's your greatest strength?
A. That is so very easy, my faith and God is my greatest strength.
Q. What's your greatest weakness?
A. Fear of not being accepted.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A. I see myself with my very own brick and mortar. Teaching other young women that no matter what obstacles and disabilities you may face, you can have it all.
Q. What skills are important for a successful career in fashion design?
A. Knowing how to communicate, sew, design and of course to be able to listen and learn.
Q. How do you stay up to date with fashion?
A. By watching the latest fashion trends, magazines and Runway shows.
Q. In what general area of design do you work or wish to work?
A. Young women ages 18-35. Elegant wear.
Q. Why did you decide to become a fashion designer?
A. Because it has always been my dream to create things that are different and that speaks volume as to whom I am as a person.
