Successful Woman Entrepreneur Volume 2 - The Empowerment Issue | Page 33

As you speak, imagine that you are engaging with friends and use some of the notes you recorded, to refer to one or two by name or to highlight something in common. This strategy will not only help to stem your own nervousness but it will also bridge the connection with your audience, make you more comfortable with each other. It will also result in you becoming a more successful presenter

Fall in love.

When in love, we live in the moment. Ladies you know exactly what I am talking about (I know that I am not the only one). We radiate, our happiness is on display for all to see, we give it our all and then some and most of all, we enjoy the experience to its fullest. This must be the exact encounter when you connect and engage with your audience. So fall in love with your message and your audience.

Now that you have the right mindset and fear factor under control, let me share some little bites that will give your public speaking skills a boost.

As a Business Etiquette trainer and Public Speaking coach, I have come to clearly understand my assignment (Mindset Change) to work with my audience(they are both on and offline),that has been mapped out just for me (as yours has been for you). These bites are habits I have been using over the years when speaking, to block any negative emotions (oh yes, I still get the butterflies now and again) to enable me to keep the attention of my audience, get them to adjust their way of thinking and let me in to help them develop the confidence, speaking skills, presence and savvy they need to become

women of power and influence in their career and business.

1. Maintain the right Focus : Money is important, yes we need it, but adding value to your client has far-reaching benefits long after the money has been spent. Focus on adding value. (Make no mistake, the money will come)

2. Breathe : Deep breaths through the nose, holding for two minutes and exhaling quickly through the mouth for at least five times (the diaphragmatic method) will help to relax and put you at ease.

3. Begin with a compelling hook : This grabs their attention immediately and jolts awake, any possible snoozers. Your hook can be a question or statement, which is followed by a deliberate pause for effect

4. You already got to know them, talk to them as friends and tell stories. Keep your audience engaged in interactive activities (depending on the forum) and share personal experiences surrounding the topic, always keeping your key message to the forefront

5. End with a bullet review: Very briefly mention the key points previously shared adding your desired Call to Action. That is, the specific action you want your audience to take, based on what was shared with them. For example it could be to purchase a product, register for a program, accept a proposal, change their eating habits.

Ladies, above all, be genuine. Your audience can see right through you so as entrepreneurs, be truly interested in wanting to affect the lives of those you are called serve, whatever business you own. Let that interest be the catalyst that drives your actions and realize your success.

Remember : Fear has NO space…You Were Born for This
