1. Set a goal - Find a strong purpose for your trip. Overseas workshops, supplier meetings, and wellness retreats are great places to start. The nature of your business will fuel possibilities. To some, it may seem unimportant at first, especially if your business is at the stage of trying to break even. Remember, any idea which seems tough in the beginning is often easier managed and accomplished when a goal is set.

2. Set a budget - Based on your financial position, determine a workable figure. As you would plan for any business expense, include a trip as a necessary one. If your cash flow does not allow for new plans, a worthy goal should encourage you to adjust your income upwards. You should never pass up an opportunity to grow financially.

3. Work with a Travel Specialist -

This is where your plan becomes refined and realistic. A Travel Specialist will save you time. money and help you make the most of your investment with relevant recommendations. It is important that you are honest about yourself and your expectations. Work with someone who listens to what you would like to achieve, and not sell you their biased preference. Be flexible and open to different ideas.

4. Get the basics - The moment you decide to travel abroad, ensure that you have a valid passport and necessary visas. You should also have an international credit card. If you are not already in possession of these, start the process as soon as possible to get them. Do not take for granted the time required or that the process is guaranteed. If you have your documents, take them out and verify the expiration dates.

5. Capture the journey

As mentioned before, traveling facilitates personal growth, regardless of the purpose. Ensure you document the process, keep a journal, and take as many pictures as you can. Reflect on new experiences and record new thoughts and ideas. And then, use this as your springboard for your next adventure! Planning is vital to any successful outcome and small efforts go a long way. Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”.
