attempts to rattle her cage .
Ed appeared shocked and unnerved by Jackal ’ s apparent disdain for Lou ’ s outrageous behaviour , but thanks to Jackal ’ s elite training , she could handle most stressful situations with ease .
“ I am a Lieutenant General , Lou , so I have access to the best equipment for my ship . It will take much more than a virus to sink us ,” Jackal said . “ I did give the order to kill your family . I can easily have you destroyed . However , I am going to be fair . You will stand trial , unlike your family . I will give you that , at least .”
Lou growled , clawing her nails at the glass between them . She began to pant , hiss and spit more at Jackal through the glass cage .
“ No matter what you try to do , I cannot change what I did fifteen years ago ,” Jackal said . “ It was my very first assignment and I had to carry it out . Are you really that naïve , Lou ?” Jackal stopped speaking and sighed , a familiar sound to the marines standing next to her , the same regret-filled noise as the one she made fifteen years earlier .
An unfamiliar voice called out from behind them . “ Marines , make sure that when she gets to the Federation main cell block , she is put in an extremely secure cell .” Jackal turned around , recognising the voice . Wolf , one of the other Lieutenant Generals , strolled up to her . “ I heard about the problem , so I thought I would personally come and see for myself . Why am I not surprised it was you trying to destroy the ship , Alloun ?” Lou cringed at the use of her full name , and flung a string of obscenities at the man . “ Get her out of there and into the secure transport cell here .” He motioned at an isolation pod in which she would be transferred by the rail on the ceiling to the cell . As they watched her go off , Ed began fidgeting nervously . He had never been around two Lieutenant Generals at the same time .
“ Don ’ t worry , Ed . Wolf won ’ t bite you . Hard ,” Jackal winked at him reassuringly . Ed smiled nervously , revealing perfectly aligned teeth .
“ Could I have the drive please ?” Jackal asked . Ed undid his bag and took out the drive . He carefully placed it in Jackal ’ s hands . “ Wolf , Ten was able to quarantine the virus onto this drive for us for examination , before being destroyed ,” Jackal said . “ I will need a new drive for the ship , though .” He smiled and pulled a new drive out and handed it to Ed , who carefully placed it in his trusty bag .
“ Let ’ s get the new drive in first ,” Wolf commanded . “ We will sort all of this out .” He waved the drive around . “ Some of the Federation commanders want a verbal report and demonstration of Ten on board , while the rest deal with this issue . However , I want to get this to my second , so he can transport it safely . He will meet us at the servers .”
Jackal nodded and Wolf made a motion for them to lead the way . The distance between the cells and the server room wasn ’ t far , but walking felt like eternity due to the complicated nature of the corridors below the central control room . They entered and Ed pulled out the new drive , carefully fitting it into position .
“ Ten , sync the new drive in slot 1905 for me please ,” Jackal said to her droid . It began babbling , showing the synching process on screen . When it was complete , they left and Wolf ’ s second appeared with four marines . He took the drive along with Wolf ’ s instructions and left in the opposite direction . Jackal led her party up the nearest ramp and out into the control room . The higher ups in the Federation were waiting patiently for them .
“ I apologise for the delay ,” Jackal said politely as she entered the control room . “ We wanted to make sure the virus was isolated
