“ Yes ,” Jackal said , ignoring Lou for the moment . “ And the origins of said viruses .” A couple of the Marines that had overheard the conversation walked up behind Lou .
“ No problem , Captain . Here is the information ,” Ten babbled . The data popped up on her computer screen . “ The source of the virus comes from a file in the permissions of Alloun Xenth ’ s account , what would you like me to do ?”
“ Put as strong as a barrier around it as possible and empty one of the low use hard drives and put it on there . Marines , take Alloun ‘ Lou ’ Xenth to one of the holding cells ,” Jackal said , narrowing her eyes and pointing at Lou from across the room . The marines who stood behind Lou cuffed her . She was sneering at Jackal . The marines took her away amongst spits , hisses and futile struggling .
“ Thank you , Ten . Ed , take this to my second ,” Jackal said . “ He ’ ll know what to do . Meet me by the server door .”
Ed nodded and disappeared to find Jackal ’ s second .
Jackal took her droid and sauntered to the door for the servers . She heard familiar shouts of men preparing for cross-galaxy warp . A message appeared on her droid from her second , asking her to authorise it . She inserted her permissions and gave the code , giving Ed time to appear by her side . They accessed the server room , finding drive 1905 and pulling it safely , knowing that the virus was stored there . “ Ed ,” Jackal said . They both stared intently at the drive in Jackal ’ s hands . “ From now on I need you by my side at all times .”
As they exited the server room , a couple of new marines appeared . “ Ma ’ am , is the virus quarantined ?” Jackal nodded . “ Then we will remain with you and Edward Hior to maintain your safety .” She nodded once more , passing the drive to Ed .
“ It is better if Ed has it ,” said Jackal . “ He is one of the low ranks . If anything should happen , I ’ d be a likelier target .”
Ed placed the drive into his leather messenger bag .
“ Plus , he is not as suspicious with that bag ,” Jackal cracked a smile . “ At most , he looks like an errand boy .” She winked at Ed . The marines nodded again as they all held onto the rail above their head for warp speed . Jackal , Ed , and the two marines made their way down to the holding cells .
Lou ’ s cell was small . Cells were generally small in the vicinity due having to house a couple of dozen criminals simultaneously . Lou was sitting on a solid steel bench , hands bound in front of her with two marines guarding the door when they found her . She looked up at Jackal and Ed when they got there . She narrowed her eyes and tensed up .
“ Do you want to defend yourself or not ?” Jackal asked in a calm , even tone . The question was met with a shake of the head and a roll of both eyes ; Lou was refusing to speak . “ So , I ’ m getting the silent treatment now , huh ? I ’ m legally not required to tell anyone that I am a Lieutenant General you know .” Lou glared back at her , a blank slate . “ I know that you would have wanted to know , given your family was arrested and killed by my men , but for safety ’ s sake , I was instructed by the General otherwise ,” Jackal said . “ Now , do you want to say something or not ?”
“ Scum ! Bitch !” Lou screamed , jumping from her spot on the bench and lurching toward the glass that separated them . “ I wish the virus had destroyed the ship and sent you to your death !” She hissed and spit at Jackal . Saliva dripped from the glass , slowly creeping its way down the cage . Jackal , who stood outside the cell , crossed her arms . A smirk spread slowly across her face at Lou ’ s
