OG Rome, Angie Smalls and rapper Lil Half Dead on location at Row Doggs Entertainment Studios Photo by: Jamal ‘Freks’ Williams ROW DOGGS STUDIOS OG: I’m OG Rome, aka Mr. Everywhere representing RowDoggs Entertainment. Shout out to Angie and the whole magazine and the whole crew for having me. Thanks for the interview. Welcome to the Dogg House! Got my boy Lil Half Dead here, J-Bomb, everybody. SM: We want to talk about what you are working on. As everyone knows, I am sure they hear all of your hits you put out. OG: I appreciate it. I just released the last mixtape hosted by DJ King Assassin. I got a couple of features in there you know. And we’re working on “The Nest.” SM: You just came fresh off of a video shoot right now! OG: I just finished my video for “Life is Hard,” featuring the homeboy Cokane, we sampled Tupac on the hook. Shout out to TM Beats for the beats, our producer overseas. It’s been two years in the making. We filmed this once in San Marcos and then we realized that we didn’t want to do a typical video. We wanted to do something with more content. Something we could be more proud of and actually put a budget behind to get it up there and running on the networks. So what we did today was the acting scenes. It came out good. SM: Nice, can’t wait to see that. Tell us about your role on “The Nest,” the new YouTube series that is blowing up right now. You have a huge role in that! OG: Appreciate that. It was a huge honor to work with everybody. A lot of the people that are in “The Nest” are artists and people that we mess with. It’s an honor to be working on my acting skills. We are also doing editing and filming for other networks. We just landed the placement on “The Rap Game” for the Lifetime Network TV channel. That’s with Jermaine Dupri and Queen Latifah where they’re scouting out new talent with a lot of young kids. Shout out to DJ Chadallac for that. What else, we’re doing Rappin’ 4-Tay’s new TV show called “A Day In The Life” where they interview celebrities at restaurants. Also, stay tuned for RowDoggs TV! You guys have been hearing about it, coming very soon this year. First man up, the homeboy Lil Half Dead, right Article Key Code - SM - S.L.A.M. Magazine | OG - OG Rome in the back. SM: Give us a tour of your studio, the Dogg House! (Walks into office.) OG: This is where we have our monthly meetings, in order for you to have a plan you have to move as a unit. SM: Smart words. OG: Because freestyling this game is not going to take you anywhere. Taking it from legends like Lil Half Dead and all of the people in the game you know. It ain’t easy. You have to plan it out and go after it. So here we try and spread it out on things that we do. We have our own clothing line. We try and make sure our inventory is up, we stock up, get our budget. Our budget allows us to buy other things like or invest back in paint or shirts. (Takes us to his printing area.) I decided to keep it all in-house, you feel me! We got the banner to take pictures at. Shows us the step and repeat banner (photo above.) We got the silk screening machine right here. This is where the magic happens. (Walks us into studio room.) This is where all of the creative thinking, the thoughts, the recording. SM: So let’s hear some samples! Can we hear a little snippet? Just a little something something. OG: A little something, something. Let me see. I got videos that I am doing. (Music starts playing.) This is me, The Dove Shack. (Rome raps starts to play.) Go to vimeo.com/slamit/ogrome to hear the music and see this tour! (Pushes pause on the track.) OG: Yep, yep that’s a sample right there, it’s coming real soon, it’s called “I’m Drunk.” And at the moment I am feeling kind of drunk! OG Rome featuring the homeboy Weazel Loc and Bo Rock from the Dove Shack man. SM: Thank you for doing the show with us. I appreciate it. Check out the video for this interview on SLAM TV. OG: That’s whatsup, that’s what it is.
