Philoksenia is a combination of philo ( to love ) and xenos ( stranger or guest ). As a YFU summer student in Greece , you will undoubtedly experience philoksenia wherever you go and with whatever you do ! With lectures on Greek mythology and history and daily excursions to historic sites and archaeological museums , this trip will give you a rich insight about Greek culture and mythology .

Greece has no navigable rivers and 80 % of the country is mountainous . Thousands of English words actually come from the Greek language . Greece has been continuously inhabited for more than 7,000 years and is considered the birthplace of democracy , Western philosophy , the Olympic Games , political science and Western theories of tragedy and comedy .
