SOCIAL MEDIA AWARENESS

Attending this workshop will provide an insight into crimes and offences associated with Social
Media and you will be shown examples of case studies of crimes linked to social media.
This workshop will provide students with an understanding on how domestic abuse offences are
linked with social media. Students taking part in this workshop will also be asked to discuss the
topic of cyberbullying and its effects. Class participation is required.
Learning Outcomes
• Make participants think about the negative aspects of Social Media and the Internet
• Practical guidance on how to protect yourself from crime and keep yourself safe
• How to avoid some of the common pitfalls of using Social Media and the Internet socially
DOMESTIC ABUSE
Duration: 1 hour
Suitable for: Students
Attending this workshop will give particpants a clear definition of domestic abuse and the
opportunity to discuss different types of domestic abuse and barriers of why domestic abuse may
go unreported. Students will look at case studies of incidents of domestic abuse. We will also
provide information of partner agencies working with Police Scotland to tackle domestic abuse.
Learning Outcomes
• Give participants a better understanding of Police Scotland’s response to domestic abuse
• By the end of the workshop participants will have relative information on what is domestic
abuse and how to report a domestic incident
AGRESSION
Duration: 30 mins - 1 hour
Suitable for: Students
This workshop aims to give participants an increased awareness and understanding of aggression
and conflict in its varying forms, how to recognise the warning signs and how to deal effectively
with potential conflict and de-escalating techniques.
Learning Outcomes
• Educate participants on learning the potential signs of conflict/aggression
• Educate participants on the use of tactical communication options to help them to prevent
conflict before it arises
• Gain a better knowledge and understanding of physical security
