PROUD TO BE
GLASGOW 2014
AMBASSADOR
A
miee Alexander, aged 20 from
Irvine, a recent HND Coaching and
Developing Sport graduate from
Ayrshire College, is currently a Games
Ambassador for Glasgow 2014 helping to
arrange projects with local primary schools.
“Aimee wants to create a strong
legacy before, during and after
the Games for North Ayrshire
school children.”
During her time at Ayrshire College, she worked at the
Olympics and Paralympics in London 2012, and was one
of two Young Scot ambassadors invited to Buckingham
Palace to meet the Queen and a host of sporting
celebrities.
Since returning from the Olympic and Paralympic Games
last year, Amiee has been talking to local primary schools
about her experience and what the Games coming to
Glasgow will mean for them. She wants to create a strong
legacy before, during and after the Games for North
Ayrshire school children.
As a Youth Legacy Ambassador for Glasgow 2014,
Amiee has been working towards the planning and
implementation of Young Scot events for the lead up to
the Commonwealth Games. She has presented at many
conferences about her time as a Young Ambassador
and has taken on a mentoring role where she has
been coordinating meetings between the new Young
Ambassadors, Active Schools and North Ayrshire Council.
Last year Amiee came up with the idea for the North
Ayrshire Torch Relay, where ten thousand children in 52
primary schools made Olympic torches which, in the spirit
of the Olympics, they passed on to other local primaries.
Her main project recently has been planning a similar
event for the Queens Baton Relay in June.
