Primary Information Analysis
On gathering primary research, I created
an open question survey through www.
surveymonkey.co.uk. One of the questions
put forward was “What course do you
prefer to play golf at?” Here are the results
of the responses, although caution has
to be taken at the fact there was a low
response to the survey.
When asked about any events attended
in Ayrshire, the most frequent response
referred to the past Open Championships
being held at Royal Troon in 2004 and
Turnberry in 2009. Also the upcoming
Open Championship in 2016 being held
back at Royal Troon.
Recommendations
When asked about any changes to the
product of golf in Ayrshire, responses
mentioned:
More public funding in local golf
courses, encouraging more locals to
take an interest in golf.
More connections from other
International destinations to Glasgow
Prestwick Airport, encouraging more
International market of visitors to come
to play golf.
These results show that most surveyed
preferred to golf at Prestwick ahead of
Trump Turnberry, Royal Troon and other
golf courses.
There was very little negative response in
this survey with just one person surveyed
claiming bad weather was a factor going
against the product of golf in Ayrshire.
Most positive responses coming out of
this survey referred to Scotland being the
“home of golf”.
THE STUDENT VOICE: SPRING 2016
Discount on price of golf during low
season – bad weather was a negative
factor to the product of golf in Ayrshire.
So, in order to attract more custom,
courses around Ayrshire could offer a
discount on the price of a round of golf.
More food and drinks facilities on
the course.
