THE STUDENT VOICE: EDITION 1
A big welcome to all of our returning and new
students, I hope you have all had a great summer
and are settling well into Ayrshire College. It is
an exciting year for us; the first academic term
of the new college and we are all part of it!
You shouldn’t see too many changes in your day
to day classes, although some of your campuses
may look a little different; thanks to lots of
decorating over the summer! As with all new
things, there may be some challenges as the
new college beds in, but it’s all about trial and
error and that’s how we learn to get it right.
To get it right, we need to hear your views and
ideas. One way we do this is by recruiting Class
Representatives, who will be your voice within
the Student Executive. Nominations and the
election of your Class Rep are done in class,
so have a discussion with your classmates,
and speak to your lecturers about who you
would like to nominate for this position.
By enrolling onto a course you have taken the
first step that’s needed to enhance your learning
and career opportunities. It’s your life and your
education, so please take your learning seriously and
be all you can be, you have what it takes, we all do!
In each campus
there will be a Vice
President who is
there to represent
and take forward
any views, ideas or
concerns that you
may have. Your
Vice Presidents are
Steven Fegan (Ayr
and Cumnock),
Mary Palmer
(Kilmarnock,
Craig Centre and
Townholm), and
Mark McMillan
(Kilwinning, Largs
and Nethermains).
We hope that you find the first year of our Ayrshire
College an enjoyable and memorable one.
Good Luck!
