SPECIAL FEATURE TIPS AND TRICKS FOR STUDENTS Top ten tips for being a No.1 Stay positive by Tayla Kelly, HNC Social Science “I have not failed. I’ve just found ten thousand ways that won’t work”, Thomas Edison famously said shortly before inventing the lightbulb. Positivity is a key component of success, regardless of the task at hand. If you find yourself under the weather or consistently falling short of your own expectations, try to incorporate positive language and thinking into your daily routine. Try simply saying to yourself “You can do this”, or finding a crowd of positive thinkers to spend time with. Most importantly, don’t forget to smile! No.2 Have goals and pursue them While it is important to embrace what is happening in the present, it will also help you to increase productivity and achieve more if you set long-term and short-term goals and see about following them through. After all, everyone loves a feeling of accomplishment. The best way to stay organised, meet deadlines and be prepared is to invest in a calendar, diary or planner. For those of you who have a lot of things on the go, this could be the best investment of your student years.
