HOW WE USE

We have different audiences to reach . We use Facebook , Twitter and Instagram as the go-to social media platforms for students . These are the main channels that students use to engage with us .
We use Twitter and LinkedIn to connect with partners and employers . These are ideal space to promote news that we want to reach people in particular industries .
The College was recently named the UK ’ s Best Performing College on Twitter and LinkedIn by EduRank . We spoke to Jennifer Sambells , Marketing & PR Officer , to hear how the College uses social media .
It ’ s great to see students interact with our posts by tagging their friends who are featured in the story or are included in our photographs . Students should follow us on social media because they will find out what ’ s happening at the College , they ’ ll get to see other courses that are available , they ’ ll get to see what other students are doing .

On a monthly basis we ’ ll look over what content got the most likes , re-tweets and comments so that we understand what our followers want to hear from us . We ’ re also able to monitor how many people are coming to the website through our social media accounts .
There is a small team within the Marketing department that operates the social media accounts . We meet every Monday to discuss what is happening at the College that week , we also talk about which courses we need to push for applications and which business development courses we should be making people aware of .
There is a strategy behind what we mention on social media . Right now we ’ re mentioning things like the Ayrshire College Foundation , our Respect campaign , # WhatIActuallyDo , the new college facilities like Salt & Barrel and the gym , internal and external events , and the big one - course recruitment .
We use a social media management tool called Hootsuite to schedule some posts .
