FILM AND BROADCASTING STUDENTS
DELIVERED THE SECOND AYRSHIRE
COLLEGE COMIC CON AT THE AYR CAMPUS
THIS APRIL.
The comic convention was an essential skills project
that allowed visitors to purchase comics, play games,
win fantastic prizes and show their appreciation for all
things comic.
Most of the money raised will go to South Ayrshire
Foodbank, a charity that provides emergency food,
support and advice for those in need across South
Ayrshire, with a smaller donation going to a local
guinea pig rescue charity where one of the students
volunteers.
Stalls were set up to sell comic books, posters and
t-shirts, and there was an auction for signed items and
original artwork.
The convention also gave students the chance to
celebrate comics by taking part in the CosPlay
competition, where several students dressed up as
characters, which drew in the crowds.
One of the organisers, Krystal Johnstone, said
“The amount of people who really got into it and
turned up in costume is brilliant. All of our hard work
has really come together. I’m going to university to
study film and screen in August, so working on this
project has been a real benefit, as I’m sure I’ll be
involved in many more events like this one!”
