WORST THING
ABOUT PRESTON
a lower satisfaction score of 46% - you
have to weigh up the options as to what
is the most important factor to you when
deciding where to live.
The weather in Preston is simply terrible.
It seems to rain constantly and it’s usually
freezing. I was told during my first week
here that it has the second worst weather
in England (behind Manchester), and
I can believe it. So make sure you buy
plenty of thick, warm clothing before
you come to Preston - especially if you
are coming here from further south because it will be a shock.
The city centre is highly rated amongst
students at 70% satisfaction, but rents
are higher at £76 on average. However,
with all of the shops, bars and clubs
on your doorstep, the location can’t be
beaten.
STUDENT ACCOMMODATION
I have lived in Uni halls, private halls and
a house during my time at University,
and I would highly recommend staying in
the Uni halls first year, a house in your
second year and then back into halls
for your third year. Living in halls during
Preston is a good place for students
to live as the rent is quite cheap. In
2013, the average weekly rental rate
was £75, lower than the national
average of £79.42.
