With his brother’s condition and the emotional stress he
carried through college, Marcus struggled with his own
depression. He no longer felt compelled to attend his
classes and lost his motivation to graduate.
Marcus' circle of friends, family, and the College Track
community stepped in to support him. Through regular
counseling and mentoring, Marcus rediscovered his
purpose for earning a college degree. He redefined his
college experience by joining new activities on campus,
mentoring students, and helping them access college
scholarships. After overcoming hardship at this pivotal
time in his life, Marcus proved to himself that struggle
can be the precursor to opportunity. He stayed the course
and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in economics.

college, his older brother was
