We emphasize caring about personal development and College development with the underlying belief that personal success leads to College success that is celebrated at both levels. I am exceedingly proud of the accomplishments and advances we have made as a College and the increasing contribution we make to the mission of the University. Our strategic efforts and strategic allocation of resources have allowed us to be successful in so many ways. We have a great story to tell about the growth and development of the College and the trajectory for success. As I write this final letter of greeting as Dean of the MSU College of Nursing, I reflect on the wonderful contributions of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni and their dedication to the improvement of health and nursing care. The future is bright as Spartan nurses bring their knowledge and talents to the citizens of Michigan, the nation, and the world. My best wishes go with the College as it enters a new phase of development and growth. ollege of Nursing, Michigan State University C 34 Mary Mundt, PhD, RN, FAAN Dean, College of Nursing The title of the magazine sums up our story, “Strengthening Communities Where We Live, Work and Play.” With a focus on the achievements of the last five years, the magazine highlights College of Nursing researchers, their work and the people it affects. Our faculty are engaged in research related to real life problems affecting the health and quality of life of individuals, families, and communities, and there is a sense of engagement through rigorous communitybased research. We also highlight our many accomplishments over the last five years in teaching, research, and practice. In October, the Empower Extraordinary Capital Campaign launched. The College is committed to raising $14.1 million. You will learn about the four areas we plan to invest and our need to fund research endowed chairs.
