lthough Norm McClung has been quite the car enthusiast
for many years, his interest in racing cars became more of
an acquired taste within the past decade. The 59-year-old
Georgia native never in a million years thought he would
break a world record when he purchased his 2002 Chevrolet
Corvette Z06 back in 2005.
“A few of my friends were into the whole racing scene and
so I decided to pick up the Z06, says McClung. “The original
plans were to leave it completely stock and just enjoy
driving it. Eventually, I had to have headers and a different
exhaust and that’s when it all started. As soon as I brought
the car to Ron Mowen at Vengeance Racing in 2006, it all
escalated from there. At first, I wanted to keep it mild and
just do basic bolt-ons. I went with a supercharger, then
eventually I went with a bigger supercharger and then a
