Photograph by Kevin Cox Noble, Oklahoma BATTLE READY Justin Miller’s supercharged and nitrous oxide-injected, LS-powered ’54 Willys Jeep has become something of an internet sensation in recent years, garnering millions of views on YouTube.com, as well as earning Miller the alias “LSX Willys”, which he literally answers to in conversation. While awaiting the delivery of a new Late Model Engines-built, bigboost-ready 427ci engine, which will utilize Dart’s LS Next block, Miller showed up for the Street Car Takeover event at Orlando Speed World Dragway with a scrapyard 5.3 liter LS under the hood. While nowhere near strong enough to last long under the pressure of a monster ProCharger F1A, Miller knocked down a mind-numbing 9.61-second, 141mph pass on a “super soft” tune up. He did, however, kick four rods out of the engine on the pass. Miller is convinced is internetfamous Jeep will be a solid eight-second street car with its new power plant, especially since he got it back from Moser Engineering, who recently remodeled the rear suspension, including a slick M9 fabricated housing.
