This did not mean that she wouldn't
submit, it just meant that she
wanted to make a name for herself.
Empowerment for women is not
supposed to be a competition or a
fight against men. It's about letting
the world know that they can do so
much more than what the stereo-
typical label had to say about them.
Hearing the complaints of those
women, she felt a deep pain for
them that weighed more than just
pity. She thought she had a lot to
say to these women until she real-
ized that she had no grounds to
repremabd them as she too had a
battle of her own.
However, she learnt more from
these women than she thought she
would. She learnt that the only way
to empower another, is to first es-
tablish one's own empowerment
through the recognition of an-
other's role. Life would be so much
easier if everyone knew their own
role and respected the roles of oth-
ers. Lisa walked out of that salon
having a whole new outlook on life,
but most importatantly, she estab-
lished her self worth all over again.
