"The Garden of Sleepers"

"The Harvest Moon"

This was the second photo for my “My Secret Garden” project. The roses were made from paper by my intern Andrés and me and it took us several days to

finish all of them. My model Nina and us had to carry lots of stuff to the location because in particular for this series, I want the props to be real and I want the model to be able to

interact with them, so the roses really were the size you in the photo. It took me a while to find the perfect location for this photo but when I saw the way the path seemed to disappear

into infinity, I knew that was it. In my idea, the roses are protecting the girl - even though they are currently sleeping, they are still watching over her.

I took this photo at a meetup of 14 photographers from all over Germany last autumn. We met for a long weekend a few hours away from where I live and

stayed in this super sweet house on the grounds of an old castle. All we did all weekend long was take photos, chat and have fun together. This photo was taken on the second

day and the model on it is my friend Ellen. I have a collection of vintage dresses and the dress on the photo is one of them. I find vintage dresses often more interesting because

they have a history. We walked past this beautiful field full of plants already past their bloom and I asked her to model for me.
