Gutenberg Revolution
With Johannes Gutenberg’s invention of moveable type
came the opportunity to produce pages of text at an
incredible speed. This invention started a revolution
for printing, allowing for politicians, philosophers,
scientists, and religious officals to quickly
reproduce their ideas for a large audience. One of
Gutenberg’s most famous pieces of commerical work
on his press was his 1454 42-line Bible. This would
become the first book to be printed on a moveable
type press in the West.
I used his 42-line Bible as inspiration for this
adapatation. I translated Josef’s story into Latin
and set it in a typeface reminiscent of the one that
would have been used on Gutenberg’s press.
