Han Dynasty Much different from the paper we know today, the first piece of paper was hemp that was pounded and disintegrated. It was thick, very coarse, and it had an uneven texture. As paper making continued to evolve so did the possibility to record important teachings and philosophies onto a cheap surface that was easy to transport.
