WE OVERCAME ADDICTIONS! I was addicted to weed in university, to the point that I would sometimes smoke two to three times per day. I wouldn’t go to lectures because I didn’t have the capacity to do so, having had smoked the day before. But then, I would smoke again and the cycle would repeat itself. My studies were failing, which deeply affected my mother. I knew I had to stop, but I couldn’t. My mother kept praying for me to be free from this addiction. She kept coming to the Addiction Cleansing Therapy at the UCKG Help Centre on my behalf and kept persisting for my freedom. Since she started fighting for me, I haven’t touched weed again. My mother is happy, but I am even happier and I don’t need anything to replace it. Matthew C. I was 13 when alcohol became a part of my life. Rum, brandyhat, vodka — I didn’t care what it was as long as it made me forget the abuse I’d suffered as a child. I tried quitting a few times, but didn’t have the strength to do it on my own. This is where ACT came into play. Meeting after meeting, I felt stronger and less dependent on the bottle to be happy. Before long, I didn’t need it anymore. For once in my life, I finally have peace.” Samantha F. STOP SUFFERING|09
