MemorieS... continued

Stone Cabin was the first "trap-site adoption" event I assisted BLM with. The first one and a storm moved in as most employees left the field. I stayed and assisted the veterinarian (I have small animal assistance experience) as a BLM ranger jumped on the chute and worked the rope. A patchwork group of a handful of people worked together, safely prepared the youngsters for adoption and the incoming storm.

Stone Cabin, and her sister HMAs, joined our list of "high priority" areas. WHE engaged for 5 years, in field and in meeting rooms, to work toward long term management strategies; we spent time on our own, time with federal employees, time with those sitting in DC. I also worked as a volunteer in these areas trying to create forward motion inside the system.

The area remains one of our high priority areas.

It seemed fitting that when our board discussed going into the field for additional training activity, that we begin at Stone Cabin.
