Founded out of necessity WHE was formed to erase decades of entrenched practices that put politics before the wild horses.

We are the only organization in history to litigate against inhumane treatment; we not only litigated, we won over and over. Today there is a humane handling policy during captures that must be monitored in order to create accountability.

Our litigation opened roundups to daily observation and started tours of private holding facilities.

Our range work has stopped unjustified removals and provided testimony to the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Government Accounting Office (GAO) and Congressional Investigative teams.

The work of WHE was born on a moving dashboard. Nearly a decade ago our founder, Laura Leigh, set off to discover the truth our wild horses live every day. What she discovered was so outrageous that her life's work became a mission to expose the truth and create change.

Wild Horse Education (WHE) celebrates our birthday this May! This is the tenth year of our founder, Laura Leigh's, journey to document the truth our wild ones live and fight to ensure that humane treatment and the survival of wild horses and their habitat continues for generations to come on our public lands.

Happy Birthday WHE!
